Yorkshire Woollen 768 (MUA865P)
MUA865P is a Leyland Atlantean that was new to the Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Company. It was registered on 1st January 1976 and was allocated to the Mill Street East depot in Dewsbury with fleet number 768.
Disaster struck in 1979 whilst heading for Leeds. The bus caught fire near The Woodman public house (outside what is now the White Rose Centre) and was gutted, as seen in the photograph to the left.
It was re-bodied by Charles H Roe of Leeds in 1981 with the staircase reversed to forward rising layout.
In 1982, a fleet re-numbering scheme took place and 738 became 754. In 1984, as a result of the agreement with Metro, it was painted in a livery of verona green and and buttermilk, the same as WYPTE vehicles.
In 1988, it passed to BTS of Borehamwood becoming their AN14 and 1994, it became a sightseeing bus with London Pride Sightseeing Tours and luckily kept its roof.
1994 saw it passing to London Country and it was based at Leatherhead as AN865. In September the same year, it was on the move again, this time to Colchester Borough Transport, becoming 65 in their fleet until withdrawal from public service on 25th Febuary 1997.
It entered preservation on 21st May 1997 and the following year was restored to the original NBC poppy red livery, making her debut at the 40th Anniversary of the Leyland Atlantean event on 27th September 1998
